The award will be apolitical in 2021
The Golden Globes will be awarded on Sunday (28.2). Presenter Tina Fey promised that the show would be apolitical this year.
On Sunday (February 28th) the Golden Globes will be awarded for the 78th time. After five years as a presenter, the British comedian Ricky Gervais (59) is handing over the reins to comediennes Tina Fey (50, “Bossypants”) and Amy Poehler (49, “Parks and Recreation”) this year. Tina Fey now promised in a podcast that the award will not be political.
In conversation with journalist Jill Rappaport (56) in ihrem Podcast “Rappaport to the Rescue” said the actress, “We just want to make some fun entertainment for the people at home.” Since she sees the show as an opportunity to leave the stress behind, the award is unsuitable for political statements. “It just doesn’t seem like the right place for political jokes,” added the 50-year-old.
Poehler and Fey are not hosting the show for the first time. Most recently, they stood together on the “Golden Globes” stage in 2015 and led through the evening.
