Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a stronger glass for the iPhone 15?

Corning has just unveiled a new generation of glass that could be found on the iPhone 15 in 2023. This is the Gorilla Glass 2, which improves the resistance of the glass when dropped on very hard surfaces such as concrete. Corning advertises resistance up to 1 meter on concrete or 2 meters on asphalt, twice the competition (supporting test). The manufacturer explains that its new glass is better suited to the latest generations of smartphones, which are larger and heavier than their predecessors.

Apple never mentions Corning in its presentations, but it is a historical partner that goes back to the beginnings of the iPhone. Apple has already invested 495 million dollars in Corning to support its production capacity as well as its research and development department. Without a doubt, the next generations of iPhone will therefore continue to benefit from the advances of the latest glasses from Corning.
