Snow is already causing problems on the Gotthard Pass
Autumn has only just begun, but the first snow has already arrived. Drivers have to be careful with the passports, some are even blocked.
The low “Sven” brought a change in the weather on Sunday. Instead of sunbeams and over 20 degrees there is a lot of rain and cold temperatures – at least in the lowlands.
The picture is different at higher altitudes. For example on the Gotthard Pass, reports Pilatus Today. Several listeners on Radio Pilatus report that the road is currently covered with snow. That is why there are currently traffic problems.
According to the Viasuisse traffic information service, there is also snow on the Oberalp. The Furka (open to Realp) and the Susten (open to Sustenbrüggli) are closed for security reasons. Here is an overview of the situation on the passes.
All current information can be found on the Traffic side. MeteoNews also warns on Twitter:
Caution! The higher ones #Alpenpässe are partly snow-covered, mostly from an altitude of 1700 to 2000 meters. These # Passports Definitely avoid until tomorrow morning, if you don’t already have one #Winter tires mounted or # Winter gear has with him.
