Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khanta’s interference in the appointment of Bhagya Dr. Priya Varghese, private secretary to the Chief Minister and CPM leader KK Ragesh. The governor who was the chancellor sought an explanation from the Kannur vice chancellor. In the complaint filed stating that the appointment was irregular, an explanation has been requested as soon as possible.

University rules require eight years of teaching experience for the appointment of Assistant Professor. But Priyavarghese has shown eight years of work experience by adding three years of research. The complaint is that this is against the UGC rules.

According to the complaint, those who have teaching experience, thesis presentation and publication were preferred over Priya Varghese and the appointment is irregular.
