Guitar festival has a new stage in the grandstand

Marcus Doneus is friends with Rudi Müllehner. So it’s a good thing that one is a passionate guitarist and organizer of relevant concerts and the other has a location that is ideal for experiencing up close what guitar music is capable of.

The guitar festival presented by Doneus celebrates its premiere on March 3rd and 4th in the Tribüne, the theater at the Südbahnhofmarkt in Linz, where Müllehner pulls the strings together with Cornelia Metschitzer. “I was looking for a new location because the old world was too small for me and the Posthof too big. Now with the grandstand I’ve found a place that’s just the right size and also offers a professional environment,” says Doneus. “I have a lot of respect for what they raised there.”

The program of the four concerts on the two days shows diversity, is international and also gives local heroes room to develop. Today, March 3rd, at 6:30 p.m., David Lindorfer, who has received numerous international awards for his fingerstyle and who packs world music influences as well as jazz and classical music into his music, will kick things off. In the supporting program, Oliver Jungbauer from Michael Langer’s master class at the Bruckner University shows his skills. At 8 p.m., Aleksandr Misko, a virtuoso on the fingerstyle guitar, will present himself. Misko can be seen in Linz for the first time.

On March 4th at 6:30 p.m., the Austrian guitarist Julia Malischnig will be the first to invite you on a soulful and sensual sound journey into her musical world. From 8 p.m. it’s Guitar4mation, when Martin Schwarz, Michal Nagy, Petr Saidl and Campbell Diamond set no limits in the multinational quartet. The supporting program includes Ann-Sophie Leibl, Mark Leighton, Zlatko Sljivic and Nikolai Schön, students from Diamond’s and Schwarz’s guitar classes. “It is very important to me that the youngsters also get their place at the festival,” says Doneus.
