Prince Andrew is shocked – the 63-year-old should now pay for songs, massages and the therapy of a guru out of his own pocket. He is also to leave his villa by order of King Charles. But the austerity measures do not only affect him.

King Charles III is rumored to be refusing to pay his brother Prince Andrew’s £32,000 annual bills for an Indian healer. That’s what the British tabloid The Sun claims. Accordingly, the 63-year-old had submitted an application to have the costs reimbursed from Charles’s private assets.

However, according to the Sun report, “thrifty Charles” informed the disgraced Duke of York that he would have to pay these bills himself. According to the newspaper’s anonymous sources, Prince Andrew has been using the services of “the Indian guru for several years”. This is to treat him with songs, massages and holistic therapy in his villa, the Royal Lodge in Windsor. According to the newspaper, Andrew’s mother Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) had allegedly previously paid for these services. This donation from the monarch is now apparently over.

“While the Queen has always happily pampered her son over the years, Charles is far less inclined to sponsor such luxuries, particularly at a time of a cost-of-living crisis,” a source told The Sun. That would give the public the wrong impression. “In the past, these types of spending have been approved without question, but that’s not the climate in the new era,” the source continued.

Charles is pursuing tough austerity policies

As early as mid-February, “The Sun” also reported that King Charles Prince Andrew allegedly wants to cancel an annual subsidy of around 280,000 euros. The Duke of York has already been warned that the funds – which are earmarked for the upkeep of the Royal Lodge – could be reduced or canceled as early as April.

Prince Andrew was shocked when he found out about these concrete plans, it said. He then explained to friends that he could no longer afford his current home. He himself assumes that he will be “evicted” from the 30-room property by September. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, also lives in the Royal Lodge and is also affected by the royal measure. Like Andrew, she was “desperate” because the two were only informed about the cuts at short notice.

As an alternative to his spacious villa, the smaller Frogmore Cottage in Windsor is apparently to be made available to Prince Andrew. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, who have emigrated to the United States, currently have to do this.

King Charles III After the death of his mother, he probably wants to make some savings to consolidate the royal finances. According to “The Sun”, the thrust seems to be clear: All working members of the royal family will continue to receive sufficient funds. Everyone else will have to make do with savings. Andrew has not worked for the royal family since late 2019 due to the Epstein scandal.
