Hawaii co-favorite Philipp and her love of cake

When asked in an interview by the German Press Agency which cake would be the ideal reward for a World Cup triumph, Philipp said: “I’m actually waiting for the race, where I’ll be given a cake if I win on the finish line or behind it . It would definitely be terrific. I would want either a carrot or a hummingbird cake.”

According to the Heidelberg native, the love of cake was “put into the cradle. My parents, especially my mother, are also cake lovers. And so it’s actually a tradition in our family that there’s always a cake.”

There are actually only four of them, but a whole cake, no matter which one, usually doesn’t last longer than a day. “And yes, fortunately none of us have any weight problems and so we can fortunately treat ourselves to something every day,” emphasized Philipp.
