The victim was found next to a dead deer and a hunting weapon. The body has a gunshot wound.
The prosecution went to the scene with a doctor, the forensic laboratory and a weapons expert. An investigating judge was also seized.
According to the HLN, it is the hunter Patrick Geelhand, 63 years old, and experienced. The circumstances of his death are under investigation.
Patrick was a lawyer and an avid hunter. As a lawyer, he specialized, among other things, in hunting law.
“A hunting accident, suicide or the intervention of a third party. An autopsy of the body will take place on Monday. Hopefully this will bring more clarity,” said Tom Janssens from the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office.
