“He looks like hell (…) I don’t know if I can still call them my sons”

On Wednesday evening, in Houthulst in West Flanders, a man in his 50s had an argument with his two sons, aged 23 and 25. The tone quickly rose and the altercation became physical. The reason ? The 25-year-old son, kicked out three weeks ago, did not appreciate his father’s behavior.

He therefore turned against him, with his 23-year-old brother still living in the family home. During the altercation, one of the sons pulled a knife from his car and stabbed his father multiple times. The man was hit in the back, lungs, abdomen, face and legs and lost a lot of blood. He was taken to hospital in serious condition but ultimately survived after a lengthy operation.

The mother, who witnessed the terrible scene helpless, today comments on the facts in the columns of Belang van Limburg. “It was terrible, I don’t want to say much more. But my husband would not have survived without this medical intervention. I was able to visit him in the hospital the next morning. He was conscious and we could already talk a little. But it looks like hell. His whole face is bruised from the beatings and stab wounds he received there. He really didn’t deserve this. There were a few trivial quarrels between them, but nothing that should lead to this violence. I don’t have a single good word to say about them and I don’t know if I can still call them my sons. They will have to pay for what they have done,” she says.

On the side of the lawyers, they refuse to comment on the motivations of the children who led to this sad news item. The two sons were arrested and questioned for attempted parricide.
