MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of the world’s richest man, founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has married a science teacher named Dan Jewitt.
In a post on the website of the charitable organization The Giving Pledge, Jewitt revealed the marriage, saying he would sign Scott’s commitment to give away most of her fortune.
Scott, 50, is the richest woman in the world, and is ranked 22nd in the world with an estimated wealth of $ 53 billion, according to Forbes.
Her divorce in 2019 from Jeff Bezos left her after 25 years of marriage with an estimated 4% stake in “Amazon”, and she pledged to donate most of her wealth to philanthropy.
In December, Scott said it had donated more than $ 4.1 billion in the previous four months to food banks and emergency relief funds amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It was preceded by donations of nearly $ 1.7 billion last year to causes including racial equality, public health and climate change.
“Join the kindest and most thoughtful person I have ever met in moving forward with this pledge, grateful for the exceptional privilege the partnership will have in relinquishing assets with the potential to do so much good when shared,” Jewitt said in the post, according to the Times of India. Al-Arabiya.net reviewed it.
The Giving Pledge campaign was launched in 2010 by American businessman Warren Buffett with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda to encourage the world’s wealthy to donate most of their wealth to charitable work.
