Andrey Peshta, the Ukrainian ambassador to Thailand, was found dead Sunday on the tourist island of Koh Lipe, where he was vacationing with his son, police said, while the cause of his death has not yet been determined.

Thai police said they found Pechta dead at about 5:30 am (22:30 GMT) in his room in a hotel complex on Koh Lipe, a tourist island frequented by tourists because of its clear blue waters.

She added that the initial investigation did not show any evidence of an attack, raid or violence, according to “France 24”.

Members of the medical team who first arrived at the scene wore protective clothing to examine the body as a precaution, while the authorities questioned Ambassador Ostap’s son, who was staying with him in the same room.

Ostap reported that his father had fallen asleep around 23:00 the previous day, but had woken up around 4:30 a.m. vomiting before passing out.

Pechta’s body was first taken to a local hospital for an autopsy, before being transferred to a police hospital in the Thai capital, Bangkok, for a more in-depth investigation into the causes of death.
