Several videos where we saw dozens or even hundreds of people dancing, agglutinated, without masks except rare exceptions, at the Christmas Market in Charleroi have circulated in recent days on the web. With good reason, voices have been raised to denounce the situation.
In fact: on the one hand, he is absolutely irresponsible, all the more so in the midst of the rise of the Covid-19 epidemic which bring our health care system to its knees, to authorize, tolerate or allow such practices to be carried out contrary to sanitary measures; on the other hand the nightlife, forced to close, makes its voice heard to denounce what looks like a nightclub scene.
From Monday, the College of the mayor and aldermen requested a detailed analysis of the situation from those in charge of the organization of the Christmas market (the company 50N5E) and from the local police. The City specifies, in its press release, that the breaches of the sanitary rules were noted “on the last half hour of opening of the Christmas Village on Saturday 27 November”.
Following this analysis, gathered this Tuesday, local political decision-makers have decided to adopt additional measures.
- “DJ Set” evenings are prohibited on the “Winter terrace” of the large chalet, until December 31, 2021.
- The reception capacity of the “Winter terrace” must be reviewed according to the available surface area and social distancing.
“The City continues to collaborate with its partner 50N5E to ensure the implementation of the new provisions adopted today by the College”, concludes the Municipal College in a press release.
