A fatty liver can lead to serious complications. You can find out which side effects frequently occur in this article.

Doctors speak of a fatty liver when more than half of the liver cells are fatty. In Germany, every third adult and every third overweight child now suffers from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD, Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease). Unlike Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (AFLD), this is not caused by excessive alcohol consumption, but by an unhealthy lifestyle and poor diet. If there is no change in diet and behavior, fatty liver can have serious health consequences in the long term and promote cardiovascular diseases, among other things.

24vita.de reveals which accompanying symptoms occur in secondary diseases of fatty liver.

The good news first: Although there are currently no medications for fatty liver, it can be cured in many cases. However, the prerequisite for it to regress is a change in lifestyle and diet. Due to the high regenerative capacity, a further dramatic course of the disease can then be prevented, as the University Hospital Zurich explains on its official website. Without a comprehensive change in behavior and lifestyle, however, fatty liver can lead to serious secondary diseases such as liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
