Hebe (10) and her nurse presumed dead
The police and relatives hoped for a happy ending to the last.
But the search for little Hebe Zwart (10) and her nurse Sanne (26) from Vught fand now a tragic ending. After investigators pulled a dark Kia Picanto out of water near the highway on Wednesday evening, it now seems certain: Hebe and Sanne are dead!
The site is on the approximately 36-kilometer route from Raamsdonksveer to Vught. The police searched at this point after receiving an indication of skid marks on the road. The area was then searched more closely with the help of a helicopter and the car was found in the body of water next to the road.
There were two bodies in the car, police said on Twitter. These are said to be the two missing. “We are in the process of investigating the circumstances. We wish everyone involved a lot of strength.”
Above all, how exactly the car could get off the road and why it was not discovered for days must now be clarified. Police say the spot is difficult to see from the street.
The police had previously searched at high pressure for the disabled student and her nurse Sanne. The two disappeared on Monday in the small town of Raamsdonksveer, where Sanne picked up her charge to take him home. The 10-year-old required round-the-clock care.
The last trace of Hebe and her nurse led to a field east of Raamsdonksveer. A phone signal was received there around 3:30 p.m. Monday. Numerous volunteers searched the area on Tuesday – without success. On Wednesday morning, the police moved out with around 100 emergency services and a helicopter.
