Saudi press reports revealed that doubts are still swirling around the position of Ahmed Hegazy, the defender of the Jeddah Federation and the national team, regarding his participation in the Jeddah derby against Al-Ahly, in the 22nd round of the Mohammed bin Salman Professional Cup.
And Al-Riyadia newspaper indicated that Hijazi will return to Jeddah next week to complete the last stage of the rehabilitation period.
She indicated that the technical director of the Federation, Cosmin Contra, requested not to rush Hegazy’s return to participate in the matches, and to postpone this until he is 100 percent ready.
And the Saudi media, Walid Al-Faraj, stated, through his program Action with Walid, that Al-Ittihad will prepare Ahmed Hegazy to join the derby match against Al-Ahly.
The Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly match will be held in the Jeddah city derby, on Saturday, February 26.
In a related context, a source in the Egyptian national team confirmed that Ahmed Hegazy, the defender of the Pharaohs, will not join the two matches of Senegal in the decisive stage of the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Hegazy was injured during the national team’s confrontation with Morocco in the eighth round of the African Nations Cup. The source explained, in exclusive statements to Laila Koura, that Hegazy needs a period of treatment and rehabilitation, and it is difficult to be ready for the decisive confrontation of the World Cup.
Hegazy was subjected to a tightening of the tendons of the connective muscles, to travel to the German city of Munich to start a treatment program in one of the specialized medical centers.
