The co-spokesperson for Verdes-Equo Región de Murcia and regional deputy, Helena Vidal Brazales (Linares, Jaén, 1992), will be the head of the list of the Más Región-Verdes Equo coalition, which this Saturday presented its candidacy for the Regional Assembly from the old portico of the Malecón garden. Number 2 on the list is Álex Hidalgo, the regional spokesperson for Más Región. Therefore, the return of the great reference of Más Región, the national spokesman for Más País, Óscar Urralburu, (number 7 on the list) to the Murcian Parliament, who was present at the presentation ceremony, is ruled out.

It should be remembered that Vidal took office as a deputy in the Mixed Group last February to replace Rafael Esteban and thus became the first Equo deputy in the history of the Assembly. A psychologist by profession, Helena Vidal assures that she faces the road to the elections on May 28 “with illusion and hope” because she firmly believes that there is a political alternative “to this neoliberal government of tránsfugas y ultras”.

Regarding the failure to reach a confluence with Podemos and Izquierda Unida, Vidal maintains that he feels “disappointed, because we saw that a broader candidacy was possible to include the four political formations, and IU let us know so, which was negotiating for three months with us on this project, with the commitment that Podemos would join, but this party did not agree to sit down with us and IU decided to leave This space”. This possibility of a great confluence no longer seems possible. “We are never going to close the door, but we understand that At the heights at which we find ourselves, there is no intention of having that candidacy for four ”.

During the electoral campaign, this political force will present itself as a green coalition “that puts people’s lives and well-being at the center” in an environment “that must be sustainable,” warns Vidal, who affirms that one of its main lines of work will be the “defense of mental health, in a community that is the first in consumption of psychotropic drugs, and where there is a lot of suffering”.

During the presentation, Vidal stressed that for change to reach the Region “this must come from a great project, not from a corner. We are committed to a greener region, where there is no doubt that we must protect our wonderful heritage natural”. “We will provide our own voice in the Assembly and we will bring good policies for our young people, so that they do not have to go abroad to look for a job with a decent salary”, For this reason, he added, “We have decided to add to make this region better.”

For his part, the spokesman for Más Región, Álex Hidalgo, highlighted the regionalist nature of his training as a distinctive value, “The Region of Murcia needs its own time because when regional politics is always looked at from a national perspective, obviously hairs remain in the cat flap; We cannot be a bargaining chip in the hustle and bustle that occurs in political negotiations,” says Hidalgo, who said about the presidential candidate that he has been working by her side for many years “and I think we couldn’t have a better candidate.”

Óscar Urralburu in the presentation of the candidacy of the green coalition

Regarding the colleagues who accompany Vidal on the electoral list, Óscar Urralburu pointed out that it was time for “a young and professional team to present itself to the Regional Assembly, which comes from all over the Region and who really wants to change politics in the Region of Murcia”.

Urralburu described this candidacy as “fresh, progressive, feminist and honestly green” and linked to the European green party and with a marked regionalist commitment. The spokesman for Más País frames this project in the Turia Agreement, which includes forces such as Compromís, Chunta Aragonesista, Mes Balears or Más Madrid, “which are innovative, disruptive forces, with which we want to build that great confederal force that be useful in the Region of Murcia”.

In a few days, the Más Región-Verdes Equo coalition will present its candidacies in the most populated municipalities of the Region such as Murcia, Cartagena, Molina de Segura and Lorca, “and probably some more”, dropped Urralburu.
