The average number of coronavirus infections rose to 7,399 per day between October 8 and 14, the Sciensano Public Health Institute said in its daily epidemiological bulletin on Sunday. This represents an increase of 88% from the previous seven-day period (3,941). The number of hospital admissions is also still on the rise and stands at 234 per day on average (for the period October 11-17). A total of 23,006 people have been hospitalized since the start of the crisis.
The number of contaminations in Belgium now stands at 231,115. The Covid-19 has caused the death of 10,392 people in Belgium, up 33 units from the figures published on Saturday.
