Honor Magic4 series presented with SD 8 Gen 1, periscope and 100W charging

Honor’s flagships for 2022 are here – the Magic4 and Magic4 Pro. The couple has the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and the same 50-megapixel main and ultrawide cameras. However, the Pro version has a bit more to offer in every other way.

Honor Magic4 Pro

The Magic4 Pro offers a 6.81-inch curved LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1224 x 2664 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. In one pill-shaped punchhole are a 12 megapixel selfie camera and a 3D depth sensor accommodated. The regular Magic4 settles for a 6.81-inch curved-sides-only OLED display with a resolution of 1,224 x 2,664 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a single 12-megapixel selfie camera in a punchhole. Both panels shine with up to 1,000 nits and have a 1,920 Hz PWM dimming function.

The camera setup features a 1/1.56 inch 50 megapixel main camera with 2 μm pixels. There is also a 1/2.5-inch 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. When it comes to zoom, the Pro has a 1/2-inch, 64-megapixel periscope lens with 3.5x optical and up to 100x digital zoom. The basic model is content with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical and up to 50x digital zoom. The remaining two cutouts house the ToF and spectral sensors. Honor’s Ultra-Fusion technology, AI Color and Movie Master with IMAX Enhanced 10-bit 4K video recording at 60 fps are said to improve image quality.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 pairs Honor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The graphics accelerator GPU Turbo X is also on board. The Pro also charges with and wirelessly with up to 100 watts. According to Honor, the 4,600 mAh battery goes to 100% in 30 minutes. The base Magic4 is limited to 66 watts, but has a slightly larger 4,800 mAh cell. The Magic4 Pro has an IP68 rating, while its little brother is only IP54. The software front is covered by Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12 on both.

The Magic4 Pro is available in cyan, gold, white and black with a glass back, while the vegan leather model comes in orange. The basic version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs 1,099 euros. The Honor Magic4 starts at a slightly cheaper 899 euros. The series will be launched in Q2 2022.
