How to remove the “green dot” from Messenger and thus go unnoticed in the app

Messenger is Facebook’s attached messaging app

Facebook is currently one of the most powerful companies in the world. With more than 2,740 million registered users in its main app, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg has gradually become a world reference, thanks to its “suite” of applications, including Instagram, WhatsApp y Messenger. In fact, with the exception of YouTube which ranks second, Facebook rules the Top 5 most used networks worldwide.

However, as is the case with, for example, email, many times these apps are not used for recreational or fun purposes, but ratherThey tend to take on a necessary role in people’s daily lives, which can help people gradually lose interest in them. In addition, when unpleasant people are presented who only seek to make others uncomfortable, making use of these applications can become a real torture.

For this reason, it is often necessary to block people on these platforms, or simply go unnoticed through them, deleting or disabling any tool that announces to the rest of the world that a user is connected at that very moment.

In the case of WhatsApp, there is an option well known to all people, in which allows disabling the Last time time, as well as read receipts, that is, double check blue that alerts the other person that a user has already seen your message. These options can be obtained from the Privacy area, located in the Settings menu, and are considered by many to be a true “blessing”.

However, what to do in the case of Messenger? The Facebook messaging application can be considered a “sister” of WhatsApp, since it offers almost the same service as this app, only with a certain dependence on the company’s main application. However, as with the “green” social network, sometimes it is annoying to have to deal with certain people who are aware of when a user connects to make their experience in the app uncomfortable.

For this, Messenger also established an option to eliminate the green dot from the main screen and thus prevent users from knowing when a person is or is not active on Facebook.

To be able to disable this option, you just have to follow these simple steps:

1. Open the Messenger app on your mobile device.

2. Go to the profile picture and tap on it.

3. In the new screen, look for the option “Active state” and select it.

4. It will immediately show you a screen where it will appear “Show when you are active” and a switch in blue.

5. To disable this option you just have to touch the switch and tap on “Deactivate”In the pop-up box that will appear on the screen. The button will slide to gray. This means that the information will be hidden and that Messenger will no longer notify your contacts that it is active, removing the green dot near your name.

It should be remembered that, when performing this process, as occurs with the read confirmation in WhatsApp, no one in Messenger will know whether or not you are active within the app, and this is something that cannot be configured. For this, It is important to analyze whether you want to completely disable the green dot, because after doing so, it will also be invisible to people to whom you may want to draw attention.
