Long suspension for HSV kickers
The DFB takes action!
HSV professional Aaron Opoku (23) was banned for five games by the DFB sports court after his red card in the game against Darmstadt (1: 2).
The winger kicked Darmstadt’s Fabian Holland (32) badly in the ribs because he had previously pulled his pants. Referee Robert Schröder had no choice and dismissed Opoku early for an assault.
The statement from the DFB states: The sports tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) has banned Aaron Opoku from the second division club Hamburger SV from five championship games in the professional leagues after the DFB control committee had brought charges for assault against an opponent after he had previously committed an anti-sports act .”
And with the five-game ban, the homegrown Hamburg player is still well served. Because initially it was assumed that he would be suspended for six to eight games. HSV and Opoku have already approved the verdict.
Late on Sunday evening, Opoku apologized on “Instagram” for his brutal kick. He wrote: “I apologize again publicly because what happened to me last Friday does not belong in professional sports. But I let my emotions take over, which still doesn’t excuse it.”
It is quite possible, however, that Opoku will no longer serve the ban in Hamburg.
According to BILD information, Opoku is about to move to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the second division. The wing racer is said to have been in Lautern since Sunday evening to clarify the final details. HSV is said to have not yet accepted the last offer. The change seems to be only a matter of time.
By the way: Opoku could appear again for his new club on match day 11 (October 7th to 9th) – then Kaiserslautern will play at HSV of all places!
