Ice Hockey – Nico Sturm scores in his Minnesota Wild-Sport victory

Boston (AP) – The German ice hockey professional Nico Sturm scored his sixth goal of the season in the North American NHL in the 3-2 win of the Minnesota Wild at the Boston Bruins.

The 26-year-old Sturm scored in the first third to make it 2-1 for Wild when he deflected a shot from Jonas Brodin.

In the middle third, Minnesota had to cope with the failure of top scorer Kirill Kaprisow, preseason rookie of the year, who was injured after a hard check from Boston’s Trent Frederic. Goalkeeper Kaapo Kahkonen saved the victory of Wild, who had previously suffered five defeats in a row, with 36 saves.

The also scheduled game of the Detroit Red Wings, team of the Germans Moritz Seider and Thomas Greiss, at the Anaheim Ducks, however, was postponed to January 9 at short notice. It was the 99th game in this NHL season that could not be played as planned. The Ducks are currently affected by a corona outbreak.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Penguins are currently the hottest team in the league. The 6-2 win at the Philadelphia Flyers was the tenth win in a row for the team around superstar Sidney Crosby.
