In the middle of the region – see Lansing again – Starnberg

For fans of Dahoam is Dahoam, DiD for short, the TV soap is a fixed point in everyday life, something that provides orientation in a world that threatens to become increasingly confusing. And since the Christmas stress will soon begin, it’s worth watching episode 1438 again in the media library with the title “A Heart of Ice”, as a kind of mental TV preparation for reality. It’s all about the happy holiday. “Christmas chaos” prevails at the Brunnerwirt in Lansing. The withered Christmas tree loses its needles. That’s why a replacement is needed. The plot revolves around the question of whether Christmas Eve can still be saved.

As is well known, the fictional village of Lansing is located in Dachau on Schleißheimer Straße. There the Bayerischer Rundfunk produces Dahoam is Dahoam. Little of the magic of Christmas can be seen behind the scenes. Wishes still come true. Renate from Regensburg loved Dahoam is Dahoam and hasn’t missed an episode for 15 years, maybe she also knew the episode “Ein Herz aus Eis”.

Renate had end-stage pancreatic cancer and suffered from a severe lung disease. To make her happy, her grandson had the idea of showing Lansing to Grandma. For this he asked the Maltese for help. Because Renate was dependent on an oxygen machine, she would not have made a trip from Regensburg to Dachau.

The Maltese picked up the DiD fan at home with their “heart’s desire ambulance” and drove to Lansing with them. The heart’s desire ambulance is a donation-financed service of Malteser that brings terminally ill people to the location of their choice. The rides are free for guests. The ambulance is equipped with oxygen, “so that Renate could almost enjoy the journey comfortably bedded on the special stretcher,” according to a Malteser press release.

Arriving in Lansing, Renate was given a guided tour of the site. She was able to see behind the scenes of her favorite series and met actors such as actress Brigitte Walbrun, aka Rosi Brunner, the Mayor of Lansing. She noticed that Renate was cold and gave her her scarf. After two hours, the ambulance drove Renate back home. The grandson has achieved his goal – “his grandmother was able to enjoy the moment and was very happy,” says the press release.

As the Malteser further announces, Renate died a few days after her visit to Lansing. Ulrich less, the coordinator of the heart desire ambulance, says: “I’m glad that we were able to give Renate and her family a nice day.”
