According to foreign media such as the Hindustan Times and Archyde.com, the local media, the Twin Towers are illegal structures. After a legal battle since 2012, the Supreme Court of India last year ordered the dismantling of the building, judging that it violated several building regulations and did not comply with fire safety regulations. Under the supervision of Noida authorities, the cost of decommissioning was borne by the supertech group that owns the building, NDTV reported.

More than 3700 kg of explosives were used for the detonation. Thousands of nearby residents evacuated for about 10 hours, and police and emergency medical personnel were on standby at the scene. Traffic around the area was controlled and firefighters had to spray water to reduce the dust. To protect against debris, the surrounding buildings were also covered with plastic sheets. On the roof of a nearby high-rise building, onlookers gathered to watch the explosion, foreign media reported.
The bombing scene was also a topic of discussion on social media. “The decision to blow up a building is a stern action against injustice and will serve as an example to warn builders and contractors,” Archyde.com reported.
It is estimated that the blast will generate 8,000 tons of rubble, most of which will be filled and recycled.
However, there are concerns that the dust may have adverse effects on air pollution and health. “I had a hotel last weekend with friends and family,” said one resident who lives nearby. I don’t know how it will affect my health,” he told Archyde.com.
