On the same day that Meta was rolling out data regarding teen accounts, many users experienced disruptions accessing Instagram. User reports of the outage spiked, raising concerns about the platform’s reliability.
Downdetector.com,a service that tracks website and app outages,registered a surge in reports. According to Downdetector.com, there was a spike of nearly 12,000 outage reports around 7:30 p.m. ET time. By 7:45 p.m. ET, more than 31,000 social media users reported issues.
the outage affected a substantial portion of Instagram’s user base. The website noted that 72% of respondents said they had issues with the app, following 24% who said they had an issue with the server connection.
Othre Meta-owned platforms,like Facebook,also experienced disruptions,albeit on a smaller scale. Facebook had about 550 reports of outages on Thursday afternoon.
