As a TV expert at the BBC, Jürgen Klinsmann delivered a real scandal. Now the Iranian national coach has reacted.
Doha – For the German national football team, it is on Sunday against Spain (all TV information about the game) already about everything in this one WM 2022. At the same time, a former national coach causes a scandal as reported by tz.de: Jürgen Klinsmann.
Klinsmann makes statements for World Cup scandal
The architect of the German summer fairy tale of 2006 is now working as a TV expert, and the 58-year-old made a huge mistake on Friday. What happened?
In the second group game of this World Cup (Schedule for the 2022 World Cup) won 2-0 against Wales, “Klinsi” analyzed the game for the British TV station BBC. He accused Iran of playing a dirty game and repeatedly said it was “part of their culture”. He had already been heavily criticized for this on social media.
Jürgen Klinsmann is heavily criticized for racism statements
For example, on Twitter it said: “He should be excluded as an expert for the rest of the tournament. His baseless and racist twaddle towards Iran was a disgrace and the BBC should be ashamed to let him talk like that on live TV without interfering.”
British journalist Mehdi Hasan said: “What irony. Klinsmann, who was often criticized as a player for his swallows, makes these sweeping and rather racist-sounding claims. It’s sad that nobody else in this round asked him about it.” He wrote “#everydayracism” – “everyday racism”.
Iran coach Carlos Queiroz fumes about Jurgen Klinsmann
A day after Klinsmann’s statements, Iran’s national coach Carlos Queiroz also spoke up via Instagram and criticized the choice of words by the former top striker, who had said that the coach would fit in well with the team.
“Dear Juergen; you called me carlos So I think it’s appropriate to call you Juergen. Right? Even if you don’t know me personally, you question my character with a typical prejudice of superiority.”
Klinsmann scandal: Expulsion from FIFA group demanded
And further: “No matter how much I can respect what you did on the field, these statements about Iranian culture, the Iranian national team and my players are a disgrace to football.”
The Portuguese coach then even invited Klinsmann to visit him and the team and exchange ideas about Iranian culture. Before that, the former DFB coach should resign from the FIFA technical study group for the World Cup.
It is by no means the only scandal in this much-discussed World Cup: for example, a TV reporter choosing a punishment for a pickpocketin addition to that shocked FIFA President Gianni Infantino with a press conference. (mind)
