The president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region Laurent Wauquiez has announced that all residents will be able to be tested for free by Christmas.
And that represents the world! Eight million people live in the region most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and where 7,000 patients are hospitalized.
Republican Laurent Wauquiez believes that “the current screening campaigns are not important enough” and that France is still “one train behind”. What he wants is to reproduce the example of Slovakia and Austria, by tracking down all the inhabitants, at least the volunteers.
In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, we are going to massively test our inhabitants before Christmas.
2 million tests already ordered, 1000 screening centers deployed. Our goal: to stop the transmission of the virus and protect our seniors during the holidays. pic.twitter.com/e4HmYp4CW9

An “announcement effect”?
From December 16 to 23, 10,000 people (nurses, liberal doctors, pharmacists, students, etc.) will be responsible for carrying out these operations, on a thousand sites, to which will be added buses deployed in rural areas.
“We decided to show that it was possible”
On Tuesday, however, the Minister of Health, himself a native of Isère, spoke of “announcement effect”, affirming at the microphone of Jean-Jacques Bourdin on BFM that neither the ARS nor the prefecture had been informed.
And Olivier Véran to add:
“What is important is not to test people, it is to be sure that once we have tested them, we are able to shelter them and make contact- tracing “
Laurent Wauquiez persists
The shepherd’s response to the shepherdess arrived on Tuesday, Laurent Wauquiez declaring in particular to France 3:
“At the moment, I think that a minister is not there to make controversy, but rather should try to work with everyone”
At the same time, a press release from the Region confirmed the pre-order of two million tests, mainly antigen tests, “more suited to massive campaigns”.
