Istanbul, Hagia Sophia will become a mosque again

The Turkish Council of State canceled the decree of November 24, 1934 of the then President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk which turned Hagia Sophia into a museum.


The historic decision paves the way for the conversion of the symbol of Istanbul into a mosque. The final decision lies with the president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has repeatedly expressed his support for the transformation into a mosque.
