Green light for production of the roadster unveiled in concept form in the spring. The production version will be called Polestar 6 and will be ready in 2026.
Polestar rhymes with talkative. The Swedish brand communicates extensively on its future models, several years before their arrival on the roads. After the SUV 3we already know that there will be the SUV coupé 4 in 2023 and the sedan type GT 5 in 2024. And now the sixth model is already formalized, and promised for 2026!
It will be a roadster, the production version of the O2 concept, presented last spring. And if we have to wait four years for the launch of production, Polestar has already opened reservations in the markets where it is established. Which therefore puts France aside, the brand still not being available here, blocked by Citroën.
In a press release, Polestar indicates that the O2 concept had received a good reception from the press and the public, which prompted it to give the green light for a production launch. The Polestar 6 will first be offered with a special edition limited to 500 copies, inspired by the concept car. This version will have specific styling elements, including the “Sky blue” paint.
Volvo’s “sports electric” brand specifies that the roadster, with a retractable hardtop, will be based on its aluminum platform and will use the 800V architecture currently in preparation for the 5. The manufacturer is thus already talking about two engines with a maximum power of 650 kW, or 884 hp, and a torque that peaks at 900 Nm.
With this model, Polestar shows that the electric does not put an end to the fun car!
