J.J. Watt pays off a lost bet to a fan after a glaring referee error

J.J. Watt was long considered the best defensive player in the NFL during his time with the Houston Texans, but since his arrival with the Arizona Cardinals a series of injuries have removed him from that conversation, but that doesn’t mean he’s one of the most unique characters in the NFL.

His committed attitude with the fans drew a lot of attention, and after last Sunday’s Cardinals’ 27-17 win over the defending champion Los Angeles Ramsthat personality trait of the stellar defensive end came to the forefront once again.

The touchdown “stolen” from J.J. Watt

In the second quarter, Myjai Sanders forced a fumble on Rams quarterback John Wolfordwho had taken the place of starter Matthew Staffordthe ball was picked up by Watt who had a clear path to the end zone, however, the referees stopped the actions because they thought that the quarterback’s arm was going forward, signaling an incomplete pass.

However, after reviewing the play, it was clearly seen that Wolford was stripped of the ball before starting the passing process, a fumble was ruled but Watt was not given the desired touchdown.

A fan with the Twitter account @JReyes192 sent the following message to Watt: “they blew that play dead but you would’ve walked in the endzone…should’ve won $1000, wanna help a brotha out?”

J.J. Watt’s supportive response to the fan

As implausible as it may seem, the fan, who had put in a parlay that included a Cardinals defensive touchdowngot the response he was hoping for from Watt:

“Yeah you got screwed. (we both did) I got you. DM me your address,” Watt wrote.

The Arizona Cardinals are 4-6 and will return to the gridiron on Monday Night Football on Nov. 21 when they host the San Francisco 49ers at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
