Jacksonville Jaguars: Owner counts Urban Meyer

A visit to the bar fell on Urban Meyer, the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team owner counted him out in clear words.

Meyer visited a bar in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, the day after the 21:24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. A video showing a young woman dancing very close to a trainer sitting at the bar went viral and made numerous headlines in the United States.

Team owner Shahid Khan only spoke up in a statement on Tuesday – and clearly counted his head coach. “His behavior over the weekend was inexcusable,” writes Khan, who signed Meyer in January. “He needs to regain our trust and respect now.” There has already been a personal conversation between the two, the content of which remains confidential. “I am confident that he will deliver,” Khan continued.

Meyer apologizes: “Just stupid”

Hard words that shouldn’t exactly strengthen Meyer’s position. The long-time college coach lost all of his first four games as head coach in the NFL with the Florida team, and sporting criticism had already been voiced before the video appeared. The Jaguars have lost 19 games in a row.

The 57-year-old spoke up on Monday and apologized publicly. “Just stupid,” he called his own behavior. “I shouldn’t have put myself in that position.”
