Jaguars – Ravens (28-27) : Trevor Lawrence et Zay Jones crucifient Baltimore

The game started half an hour later due to weather, but ended in a bang for the Jags.

Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7) – Baltimore Ravens (7-4) : 28-27

When Jaguars coach Doug Pederson was still in Philadelphia, he didn’t hesitate to attempt two-point conversions at important moments in the game, even at the risk of losing. Obviously he hasn’t changed in Jacksonville. This Sunday in Florida, when the Jags were trailing 26-27 seconds from the end, he trusted his young quarterback Trevor Lawrence (29/37 passing, 321 YDS, 3 TD, 1 fumble lost) who finally gave the victory to his people against Baltimore. Back to the film of a meeting with multiple twists.

La surprise Hasty

Even if the Ravens approach this game in Jacksonville with a series of four straight victories, the offense led by Lamar Jackson (16/32, 254 YDS, 1 TD, 1 fumble lost, 89 YDS on the ground) is currently struggling to regain its explosiveness from the start of the season. New proof in the first half, where certainly Baltimore advances well on the ground behind Jackson and Gus Edwards (16 races, 52 YDS, 1 TD, 1 fumble lost) but fails twice in the red zone. Overall sluggish in terms of offensive execution, the Ravens also lose a ball on a fourth down, and have no choice but to rely on their kicker Justin Tucker, who has a string of field goals (3/3) despite attempts to distract the Jags mascot.

On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars can count on a diligent Trevor Lawrence, a very leggy Zay Jones (11 REC, 145 YDS) and the surprise JaMycal Hasty (28 YDS on the ground, 67 on the reception, 1 TD) . The latter compensates well for the outing on injury of running back Travis Etienne Jr., registering the only touchdown of the first period on a reception from 28 yards. It is also illustrated shortly before the break through another big reception which opens the door to a field goal. 10-9 for Jacksonville heading back to the locker room.

Here comes DeSean Jackson again

The third quarter resembles the first two for the Baltimore attack, with always this inability to conclude in the opposing red zone. The difference is that opposite Jacksonville is this time at a standstill. While the Ravens regained the 10-12 advantage through a new field goal from Tucker, the Jaguars chained punt, punt, and especially fumble after a sack on Trevor Lawrence. The sanction is immediate since on the drive that follows, the visitors finally reach the end zone thanks to the runner Gus Edwards.

Led 10-19 in the last quarter, the Jaguars have no choice but to take risks to hope to return. So they try it on a 4th & 8, and it pays off since the action turns into a 27-yard reception from Zay Jones. This big play gives a real boost to the band to Lawrence, who continues behind with a touchdown from receiver Jamal Agnew (5 REC, 37 YDS, 1 TD). The match then switches squarely to Jacksonville’s advantage after a fumble from Gus Edwards, which allows Floridians to take a 20-19 lead on a field goal.

The Ravens suddenly find themselves with their backs to the wall. Do they have the resources to bounce back? The answer is yes, and the burst of pride comes from a certain DeSean Jackson. Despite his 35 years, the veteran receiver can still fly, he who achieves a reception of 62 yards to revive an aerial attack which was really in the hard. And behind, it’s a former Jaguar who restores the advantage to Baltimore, namely the tight Josh Oliver (4 REC, 76 YDS, 1 TD) who finds the end zone on a pass from Lamar Jackson (20-27 after a two-point conversion).

Finish in apotheosis for Trevor Lawrence

There are then two minutes left to play. This is the moment chosen by Trevor Lawrence to remind everyone why he was drafted in first position in 2021. The quarterback guides a magnificent drive of 10 games and 75 yards (with a 3rd & 21 in the lot) by chaining the big plays with his receivers: Christian Kirk (4 REC, 46 YDS) comes out of his box, Zay Jones continues to wreak havoc, and Marvin Jones Jr. snatches a magnificent touchdown from the nose and beard of Marcus Peters. Jags coach Doug Pederson then chooses the two-point conversion for the win, a paying choice since Lawrence and Zay Jones find themselves once again. 28-27, the score will not move despite a last desperate attempt by Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker.
