Jan Vertonghen offers an interactive play ark to children hospitalized at MontLégia

It was a visit like no other, this Saturday, to the pediatric department of the MontLégia clinic (CHC), in Liège… The hospitalized children thus had the pleasure of seeing in flesh and bone the most capped of the Devils Red Jan Vertonghen, came easily with the family. After going through the rooms of children who couldn’t move, the Red Devil went to the paediatrics terrace where other little patients were waiting for him, some wearing the colors of our national team while others were holding a balloon to be autographed. Several of them even gave him gifts that they made themselves to thank him for helping to brighten up their daily lives at the hospital…

If Jan Vertonghen was at MontLégia this Saturday, it was to inaugurate the playground which, thanks to his foundation (Jan Vertonghen foundation), was installed on the terrace of the pediatrics department. While several structures have already benefited from a play area made available by her foundation, this is the first time that she has equipped a hospital in Wallonia. Himself a father of three children, Jan Vertonghen said he was particularly sensitive to the well-being of children.

This playground is in the form of a sound, interactive and versatile arch. It offers to take part in different games, whatever the age, the pathology from which the child suffers or his handicap.

A child must be able to continue playing even in the hospital. To move, to practice activities…, depending on his condition of course, because it is essential to his physical, psychic and mental health“, noted Alain Javaux, CEO of the CHC Health Group, who thanked the Red Devil for his “generosity and happiness“which he brings”to all those children who did not ask to be in the hospital“.
