The internationals Javier Beirán and Marta Xargay have joined the solidarity initiative ‘This medal is yours’ and have decided to donate the gold metals they got last year at the World Cup in China and the Eurobasket in Serbia, respectively. The solidarity campaign, to which Beirán and Xargay have joined, among other athletes, is promoted by Finetwork, a sponsoring partner of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), which aims to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Both players have joined the Red Cross campaign ‘Our best victory’, created by Pau Gasol and Rafa Nadal and to which the FEB has also joined.
Fans who want to get one of the donated medals can participate in the auction that will take place on the online auction portal Escrapalia (www.escrapalia.com) from Monday, April 6 to 17. Once the bids have ended, the funds raised will be donated in full to the Spanish Red Cross ‘Responde’ program. In addition to the auction, the option to make direct donations to the Red Cross will be enabled.
In addition to Javier Beirán and Marta Xargay, other highly relevant athletes also participate in the Finetwork solidarity initiative ‘This medal is yours’. They are the canoeist Saúl Craviotto, the karateka Sandra Sánchez, the soccer player Amanda Sampedro and the pilot Maverick Viñales. All of them will donate a medal, a trophy or an item for the ‘Red Cross Responds’ campaign.
