As reported by Adam Himmelsbach from Boston GlobeJeff teague has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Celtics roster. In this way, Danny Ainge closes his second signing, both on Saturday night.
The veteran point guard has lessened the impact he had in his best years in the league. Last season he averaged 10.9 points, 5.2 assists and 2.4 assists in 24.8 minutes per game; beginning the season with the Timberwolves, and returning to the Hawks upon the close of the trade deadline.
Barring catastrophe, Teague will be the base of the team in those minutes that Kemba Walker has rest. The player had previously expressed his desire to join a team to compete for a ring. While Boston has lost assets on paper, it remains to be determined whether they receive nothing in return for Gordon Hayward, based on the latest reports indicating that the deal could close as a sign-and-trade with the Hornets.
With a few more reinforcements, added to the arrival of Tristan Thompson, the Massachusetts franchise could return to occupy the positions of elite from the Eastern Conference next season.
