Johnny Depp received a seven-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening night premiere, “Jeanne du Barry.”
Depp refrained from crying as the crowd in the south of France erupted into prolonged applause for his performance as King Louis XV, and he waved to the audience on the balcony and appeared amazed at what was happening.
The film’s director and actress Maywen also broke into tears when she briefly took the microphone. “I want to share this moment with my love, with my producer, with Le Pacte. It was a hard production to fund, and I want to share this moment with all my team across the stage,” she said.
The festival opened yesterday with the French historical drama film Jeanne du Barry, starring international actor Johnny Depp, where Depp plays the character of Louis XV.
