José Luis Rodríguez does not keep very good memories of his last visit to Suárez Puerta, since Llanera was eliminated from the play-off for promotion to Second B by Covadonga. On Sunday he will return to play a match between two of the cockerels in his group. Rodríguez, who as manager led Avilés to the play-off for promotion to the Second Division, considers that the start of the league for his former team does not serve to assess their potential.

“I saw the two Avilés games and there were circumstances that conditioned them,” says Rodríguez. “In front of the Stadium, the Muro de Zaro grass was very uneven and it was difficult for them to adapt because they have high quality players. And against the Industrial you cannot draw many conclusions because they expelled the goalkeeper after three minutes ”.

Although he has not competed since the first day of the League (1-3 in the Industrial field), José Luis Rodríguez does not want excuses for Sunday: “If we want to be at the top we have to win in all fields. We were unemployed for a long time and although the training was at a good pace, we need to move on to the competition. Let’s see how we adapt to the field, which is much larger than ours and natural grass ”.

Rodríguez foresees a good game, which will also serve “as a thermometer for everyone. Regarding Avilés, he points out that “the new owners are injecting money and the feeling in the club is different. I imagine that the players are calm because they will charge punctually. With the squad that they have built, with people from outside and players who come from professional football, they will want to move up ”.

José Luis Rodríguez believes that December will be key to deciding the subgroup in its promotion positions. He points out that, in addition to Llanera, Avilés and Caudal, there are teams that can aspire to the three seats, such as Ceares and Mosconia: “There are always surprises.”
