Julia Ducournau’s “Titanium” will represent France at the Oscars – Liberation

Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival, the film won against “Bac Nord” and “l’Evénement” and will represent France at the 2022 Oscars.

The members of the committee of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image (CNC) have decided. It is Titanium by Julia Ducournau who will have the honor of representing France in the United States, at the Oscars ceremony to take place in March 2022 in Los Angeles. The genre film, which won the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival, is prohibited for children under 16.

Titanium mixes woman-machine hybridization, love for cars and the quest for fatherhood. It features a newcomer, Agathe Rousselle, and Vincent Lindon, as a firefighter on steroids. Composed of Julie Delpy, Florent Zeller, Iris Knobloch, Alain Goldman, Emilie Georges, Grégory Chambet, Thierry Frémaux, Serge Toubiana and Elisabeth Tanner, the committee favored Julia Ducournau’s film rather than the event by Audrey Diwan awarded the Golden Lion at the 78th Venice Film Festival, and that North Bac, controversial feature film by Cédric Jimenez, theatrical success with more than two million spectators.
