Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Angèle… Artists cut their hair in support of Iran

To the sound of an interpretation of Hello beautifulartists film themselves cutting their hair, in a video published by the collective Support Women Iran on Instagram this Wednesday, October 5, 2022, to support protesters in Iran who are facing harsh repression.

Among these women: Isabelle Adjani, Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Firmine Richard, Alexandra Lamy, Isabelle Huppert, Mélanie Doutey or Julie Gayet. The singers Angèle and Pomme are also part of the project.

A wave of support around the world

The artists thus wanted to support the demonstrations for freedom in Iran, which left several dozen dead. The video is accompanied by a committed text: “It is impossible not to denounce again and again this terrible repression. There are already dozens of dead men and women, including children. The arrests only swell the number of prisoners already illegally detained and too often tortured. »

At the initiative of this video, three lawyers, reports France inter : the president of Paris Julie Couturier, the former president of the National Bar Council, Christiane Feral Schuhl and Richard Sédillot, specialized in the defense of human rights.

On September 16, Mahsa Amini, 22, died after being arrested by the vice squad. Her death sparked a wave of protests in the country and rallies in solidarity with Iranian women around the world.
