Klay Thompson cut Twitter and Insta to focus on the game

In the hard at the very beginning of the season, Klay Thompson has been doing much better for a few games with in particular in the lot his best performance in scoring of the season. The reason behind this return to form? He decided to take a break from social media.

We were all waiting for this Klay Thompson Game, almost desperately given the struggles of the Splash Brother since the start of the season. He finally fell last Sunday, November 20 on the Houston floor, with 41 points on the clock at 14/23 in shooting including an exceptional 10/13 from the parking lot. Vintage Clay! But before this XXL perf, Thompson had already warmed up against the Knicks (20 points at 4/10 at 3-points), before confirming through a new solid performance against the Clippers (18 points in 27 minutes) last Wednesday. Suffice to say that the sniper is on a very good dynamic, which he attributes to… a detox from Twitter and Instagram.

“Over the past two weeks, I’ve learned to focus on the games, rather than going to social media after games to check my mentions.

There is a direct correlation [entre ses performances et son break des réseaux, ndlr.]. When you come to work every day happy to be an athlete, and ignore the noise around you, you play with a truly liberated mind. And that’s the key to success, being in the flow and playing for the love of the game.”

A rediscovered love of the game, a liberated spirit, and the return of success. Both individual and collective success for Klay since the Warriors won the three games mentioned just above, they who now have six wins in nine outings (for an overall record of 9-10).

This break from social networks could only do good to Klay Thompson, no stranger to criticism since the resumption of the 2022-23 season. In the hard during the first weeks, particularly clumsy in shooting and far from his best level of two-way player, the Splash Brother has defended itself several times reminding everyone that he remains in the recovery phase after his big injuries suffered in 2019 and 2020. He also announced several times that he was going to return to his best level, almost putting pressure on himself by force. But that’s it, Klay seems to have managed to free himself from all these noises surrounding his performances and the expectations concerning him, to really focus on the only thing that really matters: the game.

“I have so much more time ahead of me. I’m not on social media to look at comments. If you prowl [sur les réseaux], something will hurt you. try [de faire un break]. Pass on the message to young people, because we are playing at a time when everyone’s opinion is accessible. At the time, there were maybe a few articles that talked about the performance of the players, and not four different social media platforms. I learned to use my time better. »
