Kerala Police to evacuate ‘ghost’; The ‘ghost trial’ of the autopsy may be omitted

Thiruvananthapuram: The Home Department is planning to avoid the use of ghosts in unnatural deaths and murders during inquest proceedings. ‘The move is to avoid the use of ghost examination and ghost trial report. Public Works Minister Boban Mattumanta has filed a complaint against the Home Ministry for omitting words depicting a dead body as a ghost. The idea is to use other words instead. A ‘ghost search’ is a police inquest into a murder or unnatural death. The report prepared after the examination is known as the ‘ghost trial report’.

This does not end the police’s ghost practice. The job of a police officer guarding a corpse in the event of an unnatural or murderous act is called ghost bondage duty. According to Boban Mattumanta’s complaint, the term “modern police force” is being used to describe such practices, which began during the British colonial period. The complainant further stated that these expressions were insulting to the corpse.

Boban Mattumanta, along with the Chief Minister and the DGP, had lodged a complaint, alleging that the use of ghostly words in the inquest proceedings should be avoided and other appropriate words should be used instead. The Home Department is planning to direct the police to use other terms instead of describing the body as a ghost.
