On the evening of February 9, Kon Tum province solemnly celebrated the 110th anniversary of the province’s founding (February 9, 2013 to February 9, 2023) and announced the Prime Minister’s Decision to recognize Kon Tum City. is a grade 2 urban area directly under Kon Tum province.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat; Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court; Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister and leaders of central ministries and branches.
On the local side, there were Mr. Duong Van Trang, Secretary of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and former leader of Kon Tum province over the years and thousands of local people.

On February 9, 1913, Kon Tum province was established under the Decree of the Governor-General of Indochina and experienced a period of resistance against the French colonialists and the American imperialists.
In 1975, the two provinces of Kon Tum and Gia Lai merged.
In 1991, Kon Tum province officially separated from the province, at this time people’s life was still difficult.
Up to now, the province has had many outstanding achievements: the growth rate belongs to the high group in the Central Highlands region, the scale of the economy in 2022 will reach VND 30,413 billion, a growth of 7.7%/year; GRDP per capita reached 52.44 million VND; budget revenue reached VND 4,050 billion; poverty rate decreased to more than 10%.

Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Vo Van Thuong, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, warmly praised the achievements that Kon Tum province has achieved in the process of construction and development.

The Politburo has issued a Resolution on the direction of socio-economic development and assurance of national defense and security in the Central Highlands until 2030, with a vision to 2025. In order for Kon Tum to develop further, the Standing Committee of the Secretariat suggested that Kon Tum province continue to deeply grasp the view that “economic development is the central task” but must pay great attention to good management of natural resources and minerals. products, attaching importance to environmental protection.
