La Mercè opens in 2022 with exhibitions and a new edition of “Art and Philosophy”

The La Mercè Cultural Center kicks off the year with an exhibition by the artist Delphine Labedan on the Pyrenees and a new edition of the cycle Art and philosophy: looking at the word, as well as an event dedicated to Narcís Comadira, who turns eighty this January.

The exhibition of Delphine Labedan stands out in the programming of the Municipal School of Arts Interior Landscapess, a song about nature and the artist’s native landscape, the Pyrenees. The exhibition is the visual expression of this personal experience of nature, which is a source of inspiration and at the same time nourishes Labedan’s imagination. It will open on January 27 and can be visited until March 18. In addition, coinciding with the exhibition, the artist will give a master class on his artwork on Friday 18 February.

Apart from this exhibition, the Municipal School of Art has other exhibitions planned, such as conTactes. A look at the gest, in which the artist Jordi Muñoz, from the observation of images and situations, puts the focus of attention on the details, the gesture, the touch and the skin, as a reflection of the emotions or And lisa devin Dido the multidisciplinary artist Anna Ill, an unpublished proposal that arrives in Girona in collaboration with the Vila Casas Foundation; or the art project Sculptures in the cloistere, which will show visitors the work of two international artists, the Portuguese Gil Gelpi and the Italian Sasha Vinci.

As for the programming of the Municipal School of Humanities, the facility will begin its activity with a new edition of the Trias Club of essay reading, organized jointly with the Ferrater Mora Chair of Contemporary Thought at the University of Girona , and a new edition of the cycle Art and philosophy between February and March. Organized in collaboration with the House of Culture of Girona, the cycle consists of six sessions divided between the two facilities, which will reflect on six works of art by six artists from different eras and the great philosophical challenges they pose. It will feature the participation of Jordi Balló, Ester Jordana, Àngel Quintana, Laura Llevador, Íngrid Guardiola and Joan Fontcuberta.

The programming will continue the cycle Bolit. Thought, made in collaboration with Bòlit. Girona Center for Contemporary Art, which will arrive with three new reflection activities. The first will be on Wednesday, February 9 with the conference Action Santos: traces of the musical thought of Carles Santos in the cinema of Pere Portabella, by Ona Balló. It will close the winter programming of the EMHU, Narcís Comadira: Six decades of poetry (1966-2022), a conversation between the poet and the writer Esteve Miralles, under the pretext of publishing the book Narcís Comadira, by Esteve Miralles: The poetic ipseities of Narcís Comadira (EFTA, 2021), as well as the appearance ofHuman movements (Edicions 62, 2022), the nineteenth book of poetry by the Girona author. The conversation will revolve around the Comadarian literary career, and will stop at some of the most unique books and poems in his work.

In the field of training, the Writing Classroom will organize two complementary monographs to the semester training by modules. These are two new editions of Brief Literature, in which literary condensation techniques will be worked on in prose, with the Microstory Workshop, by Damià Bardera, and in poetry, with the Haikus Workshop, by Josep Navarro Santaulalia.
