labor market reform in Bahrain; Flexi work permit will be discontinued Pravasi | Deshabhimani

Manama> Bahrain implements new labor market reforms to replace flexi-work permits. Bahrain has announced new labor market reforms aimed at increasing protection for expatriate workers, simplifying recruitment procedures and streamlining job transitions.
The new system was announced by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The current flexi permit system allows expatriates to work in the country without an employer. This will be stopped and the new system will be implemented. The reforms will be implemented by the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Accordingly, new labor registration centers and online registration portal will be established for labor registration procedures. The LMRA will be responsible for settling disputes between workers and employers.

Work permits will be linked to professional and occupational standards to enhance safety and security in workplaces. Inspections will be enhanced to detect illegal activities and violations by employers to protect the rights of employers, workers and the business community.
