National player Daniel Theis knew how to put himself in the limelight when his Celtics won. When Dennis Schröder returned, the Los Angeles Lakers stopped their negative run.

Schröder led the champions together with superstar LeBron James, who had 28 points and eleven rebounds, to a 102-93 home win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday (local time). With 23 successes from 34 games, the team from California is in third place in the Western Conference.

Without Schröder, Los Angeles had lost four times in a row. The playmaker was temporarily on the corona list and had to pause because of it. The quarantine ended before the duel with Portland, in which the 27-year-old was in the starting line-up and became the Lakers’ second-best thrower with 22 points.

Leonard leads Clippers to victory

The city rivals were also able to win: The LA Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in the back-to-back game with 119: 99, after a 94:12 loss the day before. Outstanding man was Kawhi Leonard, who scored 30 points for his team and collected nine rebounds. The Clippers are behind Utah Jazz, who lost 116: 124 in the Miami Heat, in second place in the Western Conference – ahead of the Lakers.

Theis shines

In the east, Daniel Theis and the Boston Celtics won 118: 112 against table neighbors Indiana Pacers and also ended a losing streak of three games without a win. Theis was also the second best thrower in his club with 17 points. The man of the game was Kemba Walker, who achieved a new season high with 32 points. The Celtics occupy seventh place in the battle for the play-offs in the east.
