Lamborghini Huracan STO, the Super Trofeo for the road

Lamborghini has officially unveiled the Huracan STO and judging by its aerodynamic prowess and performance, it is shaping up to be one of the most radical supercars around.

The Lamborghini Huracan STO houses an atmospheric 5.2l 640 hp V10 on the rear axle. STO stands for Super Trofeo Omologata, we have been warned.

Even if on paper, its torque is lower than the Huracan Evo, 565 Nm against 600, it has undergone a slimming treatment. With 1339 kg on the scale, it is the lightest Lambo ‘in the range, which gives it an excellent power / weight ratio of 2.09 kg / hp.

Of course, this is reflected on the chronometer, it only takes 3 “to reach 100 km / h and triple it to display 200 km / h on the meter. Its top speed peaks at 340 km / h. The recent McLarens 720S or Ferrari F8 Tributo are a little faster, but they are powered by V8 turbos when the Lamborghini makes sing its atmospheric V10.

Looking at his models Racing team to find inspiration, the manufacturer succeeded in maximizing the aerodynamic performance of the Huracan STO, from the front apron to that of the rear.
Take for example the hood, which is actually a single component (hood, fenders and bumper) inspired by the Sesto Elemento. There is also a new front splitter that directs the airflow to the newly designed underbody for the rear diffuser.

The rear engine cover has an integrated air intake and dedicated air deflectors. Then there’s the shark fin, adjustable rear spoiler, new front brake cooling ducts and Brembo CCM-R brakes, plus the overall construction, which is 75% carbon fiber.

Lamborghini has also added three new drive modes for the ANIMA system: STO, Trofeo and Pioggia. STO mode is intended for road driving, while Trofeo focuses on giving you all the performance you need for quick lap times. Pioggia means ‘rain’ of course, so you get optimizations for the traction control system, torque vectoring and ABS so you can handle wet asphalt.

As for the interior, carbon fiber is widely used in the passenger compartment including sports seats (full carbon fiber), Alcantara upholstery with Lamborghini carbon leather, floor mats and carpets. Carbon fiber door panels (with door latch), as well as four point seat belts.

Customers will take delivery of their Lamborghini Huracan STO next spring, with prices starting at $ 327,838 (tax excluded) in the US, EUR 249,412 (tax excluded) in Europe, £ 216,677 (tax excluded) in the UK United, 3,900,000 RMB (tax included) in China and 37,500,000 YEN (excluding tax) in Japan.
