In a roof fire in Langenhagen, rescuers discovered a dead person on Wednesday. As the police told the NDR in Lower Saxony, a resident of the apartment building is still missing.
It was unclear in the afternoon whether the dead man was the man he was looking for and whether the person died from the fire. Investigations into the cause of the fire and identity are ongoing. Eight residents of the house, including a child, got to safety in time or were evacuated by the fire brigade. A 35-year-old resident was taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, police said. He was able to leave the clinic on Wednesday morning.
The body was found in the attic
According to the police, the fire broke out early in the morning around 2.50 a.m. in an apartment on the top floor of the apartment building on Pferdemarkt. The body was in the attic apartment where the fire broke out. The police did not provide any information on the extent of the damage.
