launch of the 2nd edition of the “1.000 fikra” program, H24info

Afriquia, as a corporate citizen, encourages the development of Moroccan entrepreneurship through its “1,000 Fikra” program, which aims to convert entrepreneurial ideas carried by young Moroccan volunteers, sometimes without a diploma or experience, into concrete projects. Following the success of the first edition, Afriquia has decided to launch a new call for applications from December 1st.

With an innovative approach and a committed vision for social entrepreneurship, Afriquia launched, at the end of 2019, the 1,000 Fikra program: an initiative whose objective is to encourage project leaders and help them transform their ideas into real businesses.

Since its launch, the initiative has supported more than 516 projects leading to the effective birth of 389 new businesses already operational on the national market. This result is the result of a careful selection from over 14,000 applications received and the organization of 950 interviews across the 12 regions of the kingdom.

Following the success of the first edition, Afriquia has decided to launch a new call for applications from December 1st.

Registrations are accessible via the link below: www.1000fikra.ma. As a reminder, this program is free and open to any Moroccan with an idea of a viable project, without condition of diploma or experience.

The objective is to ensure the continuity of the program. It must be said that the first edition of the initiative presented a very positive result: 389 promising new companies, spread over the whole of the national territory, have indeed just taken their first steps on the Moroccan market.

A convincing assessment

To select the most promising projects, the 1,000 Fikra initiative had to study more than 14,000 applications received after the official launch of the call for applications campaign at the end of 2019. Following a meticulous study phase of each case, the experts who support this project traveled through the 12 regions of the kingdom to hold more than 950 interviews.

Thus, 516 projects were selected and supported. The projects launched operate in sectors of activity as varied as commerce, electronics, agriculture, agri-food, textiles & clothing, education,
services, crafts, or even communication and the multimedia sector. More than 90% of carriers
of projects have developed a prototype tested on the market and 97% have already finalized their legal status.

Better yet, 70% of them now achieve recurring sales. Thus, 1,000 Fikra has already positively impacted the labor market. This social innovation signed by Afriquia has indeed made it possible to create nearly 500 job opportunities (CDI, CDD, internships, etc.).

In terms of gender distribution, 70% of the projects selected are led by men and 30% by women. Ultimately, thanks to the program’s support, 80% of the supported projects were transformed from the idea stage to more advanced stages. And this is just the start …

Support adapted to the needs and the context!

To give reality to the ambitions of project leaders, Afriquia, through its 1,000 Fikra initiative, has deployed, across the 12 regions of the kingdom, no less than 367 training courses, i.e. the equivalent of 648 hours, reserved for soft-skills: skills essential to any entrepreneur.

In this context of crisis, Afriquia has redoubled its efforts to adapt the training system to containment and thus, not to leave the entrepreneurs on their own. The support took on a digital format and was very successful with the beneficiaries.

To achieve this, Afriquia called on an internationally recognized partner in the field: Rebel Business School. With its innovative methodology, the Rebel team trained the Moroccan teams on its original approach which offers a unique experience allowing beneficiaries to release their potential and realize their project within a short time.

Once this first stage of the training was completed, the project leaders benefited from 4 months of incubation where they benefited from a complete support system: 854 individual or group coaching sessions and masterclasses dealing with different themes were given. were organized during bootcamps. This incubation phase also enabled entrepreneurs to provide concrete answers to the various challenges they had to face, thanks to the support of their mentor-experts in entrepreneurship.

In figures, the program provided more than 1,600 mentoring sessions organized thanks to the mobilization of 350 entrepreneurship professionals. Add to this 720 workshops on different themes, organized within multiple bootcamps in order to accelerate the preparation of these young shoots.

Afriquia also closely followed the development of all projects through 7,776 weekly follow-up meetings deployed throughout the country. Better still: at the start of the incubation phase, the Mâak Foundation created by Afriquia and dedicated specifically to pilot and monitor the program, offered a donation of 20,000 dhs to each entrepreneur to enable them to start their project, in addition to an honor loan of 180,000 dhs / project, at the end of this phase.

Entrepreneurs satisfied with the system and the program!

Some figures show the relevance of the program and its appreciation by the project leaders. In addition to an attendance rate for the various activities which stands at 86%, more than 85% of the entrepreneurs declared themselves satisfied with the various stages of the program.

National and international partners

Inspired by Afriquia’s CSR vision, this program has been tailor-made to support entrepreneurial projects from conception to completion. To do this, Afriquia relied on the expertise of three national and international partners: the English training organization, Rebel Business School and two of the largest incubators in Morocco, Bidaya and MCISE.

Afriquia opens its doors to 1,000 Fikra winners

Through 1,000 Fikra, Afriquia does not only train and incubate young entrepreneurs. The national leader in the distribution of fuels, through its various structures, remains mobilized to support them, by giving them free and unlimited access in workspaces integrated in the Oasis Cafés of Afriquia service stations, which , without time limit, offer them drinks and Wifi.

Afriquia’s support also meets their financial needs

The Mâak Foundation offers them, in fact, assistance in financing their project in the form of a start-up fund and an honorary loan of up to 200,000 dhs. Finally, Afriquia opens its doors to the winners of its program who wish to develop synergies between Afriquia and their project in a vision of creating partnerships capable of boosting their business.
