Law dismisses arrest warrants for 9 members of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering’s subcontractor union

The court dismissed the arrest warrants for members of the subcontractor union of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.

According to the Geoje Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 23rd, the Changwon District Court Tongyeong Branch issued an arrest warrant for nine subcontractor union members who are suspected of obstructing business, including members who protested against iron bars and railings, including Yoo Choi-an, vice president of the Chosun subcontracting branch of Tongyeong Goseong, Geoje, of the National Metal Workers’ Union. rejected

They are accused of illegally occupying a super-large crude oil carrier under construction at the Okpo Shipyard Dock 1 on the 22nd of last month. The court is said to have dismissed the warrant on the grounds that the occupancy demonstration was lifted and that union members expressed their intention to attend the police.

The police plan to continue the investigation by calling the union members sequentially after observing the progress of their hospital treatment. Previously, the police said that the union members had been given priority to receive treatment in the hospital as they had been protesting for a long time. Vice Chairman Yoo Choi-an, who continued the sit-in without coming out of the 1m3 steel structure for the previous 31 days, was carried on a stretcher and transported to the hospital.

The subcontracting branch went on strike for 51 days from the 2nd of last month to the 22nd of this month. On the previous day, the Daewoo Shipbuilding In-house Partners Council and subcontractors signed an agreement to raise wages by 4.5%, pay 500,000 won for holidays, and 400,000 won for summer vacation.

Meanwhile, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has filed a complaint against the subcontractor’s union executive department for obstruction of business. He said that the damage caused by the illegal strike was so severe that a civil claim for damages was inevitable. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is estimated to have suffered a total of 816.5 billion won in damages from the strike. The decrease in sales was 646.8 billion won, fixed expenses 142.6 billion won, and delay compensation 27.1 billion won.
