Le Printemps de Bourges, canceled due to the pandemic, takes place in Printemps Inouïs, a scene reserved for its promotion of emerging artists, from September 16 to 18, organizers said on Tuesday.

It is a new device. The 34 artists from the 2020 discovery cuvée (Bandit Bandit côte rock, P.R2B for electro-pop or rapper Sally, among others) will perform live at the Palais d’Auron in Bourges, one of the essential places of Spring . “In compliance with the current sanitary rules, places would be seated, with a gauge reduced from 2,500 to 600-800 places, but we will see if we can make it evolve according to what the administration will authorize us to do”, explains Boris Vedel, director of the festival.

“Our profession, in current music, has very little visibility about what it can do. It is not necessarily a criticism of the authorities, I would not like to be in their place, and it is difficult to navigate as much on sight “, he continues. “Le Printemps Inouïs (contraction of Le Printemps de Bourges and Les Inouïs) is an opportunity to draw attention to this problem “.

This scene is also a hand extended to the musicians, “who are suffering from the health crisis with the cancellation of festivals and concerts, especially emerging artists whose careers do not yet exist”, help Boris Vedel.

Le Printemps de Bourges, which was to be held from April 21 to 26, was the first major French festival to lower the curtain because of the pandemic. A digital version took place on the scheduled dates, “but nothing replaces the scenic energy”, continues the boss of the event.

“We had a promise to honor, to close the 2020 promotion cycle, to present it on stage to the public and to professionals. It must be remembered that these are 300 professionals who assess 4,000 artists to retain only thirty in the end every year “, concludes Boris Vedel.
