LeBron signs maximum $97.1 million contract extension with Lakers over 2 years – Basketball

Forward “Lakers” LeBron James will extend the contract with the team, writes NBA insider Shams Charania.

Two more years will be added to the current one-year deal, during which James will earn $97.1 million. For the 2024/25 season, a player option is provided.

The extension will bring LeBron’s total career salary to $532 million, the highest in NBA history. The previous record was held by a forward “Brooklyn” Kevin Durant ($508 million).

James has been with the Lakers since 2018. In 2020, he helped the California team win their 17th NBA title.

LeBron is the first NBA player to become a billionaire in the course of his career. How did it happen?
